Gardening
Our Community Garden Project is located next door at the Bradbury Day Centre.
In early May 2013 work began clearing and sprucing up the existing garden of the Bradbury Day Centre. We enlisted help from HMP Stoke Heath to help with painting furniture and clearing a small lawned area. A small group of volunteers have begun planting the donated plants from the general public and there are now a number of edible plants growing.
A significant financial donation was received in June to develop a further plot of land on the lower level on the south side of the hospital. This has now been landscaped and has a greenhouse ready to start growing and is suitable for anyone in a wheelchair or with restricted mobility. We plan to run basic gardening workshops together with healthy cooking sessions using produce from the garden. The Beechtree is delighted to be able to offer a Local Food Café and it is hoped that some of this produce will be sold to the café to provide further workshops to be run at affordable prices to local people.
Anyone interested in becoming involved with the garden or attending proposed workshops should contact Jan Cross on 01948 666612 or email </>
