Individual Tuition

IT Drop-in sessions

2 drop-in sessions are scheduled for 4th and 11th June 2014 10.00 - 12.00.

If you just need a bit of help with software e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, databases, power-point, web-design etc. or with emails or using the internet then these sessions are for you. Please note this is NOT a taught course, instead volunteers will be on hand to try and answer your queries and help with your problems. N.B. we will not be able to help with hardware issues during these sessions. No need to book - just turn up. Nominal charge of £4.

Beginners Computer Course (5 weeks) Starts 24 June 2014, 1.30 - 3.30. Tuesday afternoon for 5 weeks.

 Ideal if you are completely new to computers. More information on this page.

Family History. Wednesday 26th Feb 12.45 - 15.45. Single session. Always wanted to investigate your family tree? We help you get started doing this with an introduction to using a Pedigree Chart and using your computer to draw out your tree. We will help you find and use on-line resources. Helpful if you bring along as much family information as you have e.g. photos, birth/marriage/death certificates etc.

We hope you'll "get the bug" and join our regular weekly Family History Club sessions. (See below).

Family History ClubStarting on 8th Jan 2014 we will be running a Family History Club on Wednesdays 10.00 am to 12.00 noon until at least Easter and beyond if there is the demand. Everybody is welcome, whether you are new to researching your family history, have been on one of our courses or have previously been part of the Heirloom project. You will find the group willing to help you and we will also have volunteers on hand to provide assistance. There will be a nominal charge per session. Emails If you just need help with emails. This is a 2 hour session to help you set-up and learn to use, emails.

Photo editing Need some help with your photo editing including re-sizing for emails, saving images from the internet etc. This is a 2 hour session.

Tablets and Ipads (2 weeks) This is a new 2 week course running on Wednesday afternoons. As more and more people are using tablets and Ipads to access the internet they are finding they are having to get to grips with touch-screen technology. A bit like Marmite, you either love it or hate it, but you can't ignore it! Please call 01948 666612 to book

Protecting your computer when using the internet  Wed 30th April 13.30 - 15.30 Everyone has heard about computer viruses, but do you know how to avoid them? Digital Photography (4 weeks). Covers the basics of using a digital camera, manipulating and storing the photos on your computer.

Word Processing. (2 week course). Next course starts: Tue 1st April 2014 13.30 - 15.30.

We will be using Microsoft Word 2007 and if you don't have Word we will also look at a free word processing programme that can be downloaded from the Internet. Bring your own laptop if you wish.

ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence). Accredited computer courses - in conjunction with Walford & North Shropshire College.On going, please contact Jan on 01948 666612 for more information. The course is free to access for anyone who is unemployed. For those in employment please contact us for a fee.

 

CV Skills Workshop. 31st Oct 2013 10am - 12 noon. Aimed at those seeking employment. Produce a printed CV and gain a level 1 qualification.
