Volunteering & Job Opportunities

Volunteering Opportunity

Marketing, Public Relations and Fund Raising [Volunteer(s)]

We are looking for a volunteer or volunteers with experience in, or wishing to gain experience in, marketing, conducting Public Relations and Fund Raising.

About the Beechtree Community Centre

Beechtree Community Centre is a healthy living centre that offers a friendly environment for local people. We aim to involve everybody, promoting health, providing a range of activities for physical and mental wellbeing including such things as “Rhythm Time” sessions for mother’s and young children; cookery skills; gardening; a youth group; a walking group and short 1-to-1 IT sessions and courses. We also provide a comfortable environment, providing a base for other local services and providing a variety of counselling services. You can read more about us on our website at beechtreecentre.org

About the Opportunity

We are looking for 1 or more people who are prepared to give their time voluntarily to helping us promote the Centre in the local town and surrounding area and in particular to helping us with fund raising.

The Centre runs entirely on donations and grant funding from a range of organisations. The nature of the funding means we are constantly looking for new sources of funding.

About You

Ideally you will have previous experience in one or more of these skill areas or may be a marketing student looking to gain some work experience in your holidays.

You should be capable of taking the lead in a marketing and fund raising programme which you develop. You should be enthusiastic about the aims and ethos of the Centre and be willing to donate a few hours per week of your time. There are no fixed hours and you can work to suit yourself and the Centre, although some weekend availability would be useful to promote the Centre at local events or venues.

You must be honest, cheerful, trustworthy and reliable and able to work with the existing mixed team of staff and volunteers.

How to apply

This is an on-going opportunity and there is no fixed closing date.

If you are interested in applying, please send a CV with a covering letter telling us how you see the role and how you see yourself fitting in to it, to:

Mrs K Goodchild, Manager.

Beechtree Community Centre,

Hospital Site,

Claypit Street,

Information for volunteers

We are a small independent community centre situated in the old chapel on the grounds of Whitchurch Community Hospital.

We recently had extensive refurbishment to the building with an extension to house the new cafe and reception area.

We are a designated healthy living centre offering activities to the community to enhance their lives keeping them mentally and physically engaged in positive activities.  Volunteers with us can expect to be welcomed to try new activities and are encouraged to consider their own personal development if they should choose. For example...two of our volunteers have taken the PTTLs qualification (Preparing to teach in the life long learning sector) which may help them to secure paid employment in the future.

So please have a look at our activities to see if you may be interested in joining us....
